Patch #119 [winter season]

    • Offizieller Beitrag

The winter season has begun! From early November to the end of February is the time for Christmas and winter markets. To mark the occasion, today we’ve added a whole host of new attractions to the ‘Christmas attractions’ category – but there’s even more! This patch has been a long time in the making. I hope you like it

☃️🆕 All Christmas attractions now in 3D

I’m delighted that we now have the first category in the game where all attractions have been updated from the old 2D graphics to the new 3D graphics.

If you already have a Christmas shop, you don’t need to do anything; the switch to the new graphics has happened automatically.

Transparency note: With this patch, the costs for the affected premium versions (i.e. only for Christmas shops) have been slightly increased. Naturally, this only applies to new purchases or redesigns in the Design Hall, not retroactively to versions already purchased.

❄️ New designs for older Christmas shops

These Christmas shops were already in the game, but they’ve been given new designs:

    • Old Viennese Carousel: “Festive Horse Carousel”
    • Tarte flambée: “Fire & Flame”
    • Large pub: “Après-Ski Lodge”
    • Small ice rink: “Polar World Ice Rink”
    • Snowmobiles: “Northern Lights Expedition”
    • Rocket Reindeers: “Reindeer Express”
    • Snow slide (70m): “Luge Racing”
    • Gourmet Hut: “Smokehouse”
    • Swivel Grill: “Miner's Hut”
    • Christmas Tree Carousel: “Snow Magic Tree”

🛠️ Adjustments to the distribution of attractions

To ensure a fairer distribution of pitches across the individual attraction categories, this patch introduces the following adjustments:

    • Extended consideration of inactive players
Previously, attractions were considered active for a fixed period after purchase and were included in the calculations for attraction distribution.
New players who only play for a short time and become inactive early on contributed to the proportion of row shops always being calculated too high.
The calculation now weights players based on their registration date and the number of days of inactivity. As a result, new players are classified as inactive after just a few days and are therefore no longer included in the allocation calculation at an earlier stage.
In practical terms, this means that, in my model calculation, the number of slots for consecutive matches will be reduced by an average of 20 per cent. This will benefit the other categories.
    • Applications influence the allocation
This change mainly affects small events where a match is not sought in every category.
Previously, if the allocation calculation for a category at an event rounded down to 0, the mathematical remainder was distributed at random amongst the categories affected by the rounding. This meant that, for example, spaces for water rides were more frequently available in winter, as there are still few players with such an attraction and the random mechanism therefore repeatedly allocated spaces.
What’s new is that, at the close of applications, the event takes into account the categories of the applications received. This means that, rather than distributing spaces at random, the decision as to which category receives a stall space – or does not – is based on the applicants. For example, the decision might fall on a Ferris wheel if no water ride has applied.

Together with the changes from the last patch, these measures should now bring about a significant improvement in the acceptance and rejection rates and make the allocation fairer once again. I will, of course, continue to monitor the results.

    👷📖 New feature: Staff Register

At the very bottom of the staff overview, you’ll now find a ‘Staff Register’ button. The Staff Register is a record of when each staff member was hired, when they were dismissed or resigned, and, in the latter case, why. It records the staff member’s most recent stats, their location, whether they had access to their allocated caravan, and so on.

The Staff Register is primarily intended as a reference in case of doubt. It’s also designed to reduce the number of support enquiries, as you can now access this information yourselves.

Entries are stored for 3 months. When you receive a notification about an employee who has left, you can click on the notification and the Staff Register will open, showing all the details of their departure.

    🛠️🪲 Bug fixes

    • Regional associations: A candidate for election to the executive committee was not removed if they had left the association.
    • Revenue calculation: For opening hours extending past midnight, the visitor distribution for the current day was used. For example, on Saturdays with opening hours until 3 am, the figures for Sunday were used from midnight onwards. Similarly, on Thursdays when matches were played and opening hours extended past midnight, the figures for Friday were already being used.
    • Excessive revenue: The ‘Swivel Grill’ and ‘Tarte Flambée’ attractions had a balancing error, resulting in excessively high revenue. The figures have been corrected. Affected players may keep the excess revenue.

New features and functions (such as the staff directory) are only available in the NEXT version.

The Android app will be updated shortly with the new patch; unfortunately, Google’s review process is still taking a little while.

I hope you like the changes and new features, and I hope you have fun planning your winter season! ☃️
